Labyrinth 9917 : 96 points

Megas Oenos Labyrinth 9917 (a solera from the 1999 vintage through the 2017) is a 75/25 blend of Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in French oak and 12 months in foudres. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. As these have gotten younger, they have become less complex and more aggressive. This is a good example compared to some of the earliest versions. Showing a crisp finish with some tannic pop, this adds a touch of oak. It does happily also have some extra added complexity, some hints of maturity here and there on the nose. As it airs out, those fold into the whole. This is still remarkably young, a vigorous and full-bodied wine that is purely prime time. Hours later it is better. The depth is impressive this year too, and it is a pleasure to see the fruit lifted on the finish and then cascading onto the palate. The silky texture makes it sensual and refined. Put it all together and it is arguably the best in the brand so far.
